The legal team representing former ANC national spokesperson Zizi Kodwa has voiced their frustration over delays in his corruption case. On Wednesday, Kodwa made a brief appearance at the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, accompanied by his co-accused Jehan Mackay. The case centers on allegations that between 2014 and 2016, Kodwa received R1.7 million in kickbacks from Mackay.
In return, the State alleges that Kodwa used his influence within the ANC to steer tenders toward Mackay’s IT company, Enterprise Outsourcing Holdings. During a previous court session, Kodwa’s lawyers requested additional details from the State, which have since been provided. Despite these developments, the case continues to face delays.
Kodwa’s attorney, Zola Majavu, has stated that they are prepared to proceed to trial and do not intend to join Mackay’s bid to have all charges dismissed. Majavu emphasized that while the allegations are damaging to Kodwa’s reputation, political standing, and personal life, they are committed to ensuring that due process is followed.
The case has been postponed to 10 September, pending a decision from the National Director of Public Prosecutions regarding Mackay’s application to have the charges against him dropped.
