Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says the signed health compact is ready for implementation. Acting President Paul Mashatile presided over the signing ceremony of the second Presidential Health Compact at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
The health compact is designed to help mobilise resources for the health system, by engaging with the private sector and other stakeholders on innovative financing mechanisms, such as public-private partnerships.
The health compact was established in 2019, with the intention to establish a framework of cooperation between a number of critical sectors, to ensure good health outcomes.
Motsoaledi says it comes at a time when the healthcare sector is facing a multitude of challenges such as funding and infrastructure, amongst others. We are now at the point where the compact must move into action.
