Zimbabwean Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Stabbing Incident Leaves Two Injured in the UK
In a worrisome development, another Zimbabwean has been charged in the UK, raising concerns about the growing number of Zimbabweans facing serious criminal charges or resorting to crime.
The latest incident involves a Zimbabwean man charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in Costessey, Norfolk.
Details of the Incident
Rutendo Matsika, a 32-year-old resident of Church Road, Griston, was arrested following a stabbing incident on Monday, August 26, 2024.
According to Norfolk Constabulary police report, authorities were called to Blackhill Wood Lane at around 4:15 p.m. after receiving reports of the stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found a man in his 40s with knife wounds and a woman in her 30s suffering from injuries to her head and arm. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Matsika, who is known to both victims, has since been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a bladed article. He was taken to Wymondham Police Station for questioning and has since been remanded in custody.
Court Appearance
Matsika appeared before Norwich Magistrates Court earlier today, confirming his name, age, and address. Dressed in a black sweatshirt, he was remanded in custody by Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton. A plea hearing has been scheduled for September 25, 2024, at Norwich Crown Court.

This incident comes just a day after another Zimbabwean man was charged with murder in Gloucester, England. Tanaka Zivanai, aged 32, is accused of fatally stabbing 28-year-old Zanele Sibanda.
The fatal incident occurred at the junction of Paul Street and Tarrington Road in Tredworth, Gloucester, during the early hours of Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Zivanai, who was arrested shortly after the incident, is set to appear in Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
