The stolen vehicle, a Department of Health Toyota Hilux, had been parked on hospital premises after an accident. On the night of November 18, around 11 p.m., two suspects reportedly tricked security guards into opening the hospital gate by claiming to be transporting a gravely ill patient.

Once inside, the suspects abandoned their vehicle, held the guards at gunpoint, tied them up, and forced them to lie face down. After freeing themselves, the guards discovered the Hilux missing and reported the incident to Belfast SAPS.
