Girlfriend of Armed Robber Arrested After Getting Busted with Stolen Items Which Her Boyfriend Had Gifted Her

The girlfriend of an armed robber captured on CCTV during the Pircy Farm robbery has been arrested after several stolen items were found at her house.

Monica Muguti, from Unit M, Chitungwiza, was busted with stolen items she reportedly received as gifts from her boyfriend, Tawanda Manokore, a suspected armed robber.

She has since been implicated in two armed robberies.

Police Recover Stolen Items

Acting on a tip-off, police searched Muguti’s home, where she led officers to her wardrobe. Recovered items included a Guess Waterpro watch, a Jeep watch, jewelry, and a pig-shaped gold medal.

Details of the Christon Bank Robbery

The first robbery occurred on October 26 at a residence on Christon Road, Christon Bank. Armed with machetes and knives and disguised as police officers, the robbers attacked the gardener in his cottage.

After handcuffing him, they entered the main house, tied up the occupants, and ransacked the property.

The gang stole:

  • US$760 in cash, six cell phones, and jewelry
  • A gas tank and groceries
  • A 9mm Walther pistol with live rounds and magazines

The robbers fled in the victims’ blue Toyota Rav 4, later dumping the vehicle and some of the stolen goods in Mazowe.

Goromonzi Farm Robbery: A Second Attack

The second robbery occurred on November 3 at a farm in Goromonzi. The suspects entered through an open kitchen door, wielding pistols and machetes.

The gang restrained the occupants, tied them with laptop cables, and demanded money. Items stolen included:

  • An iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • US$3,000 in cash
  • Clothing, a laptop, and groceries
  • Several firearms, including shotguns

The robbers fled, leaving behind some firearms. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, and the footage went viral on social media.

Arrests and Recovery of Stolen Goods

The police arrested one suspect, Tafadzwa Chakuteka, after his accomplice, Sarezi Shonhiwa, implicated him. Chakuteka then led authorities to his Inkomo Barracks residence, where they recovered a 9mm Walther pistol and ammunition stolen during the Christon Bank robbery.

Investigations are ongoing as the authorities pursue the remaining suspects
