Malema Blames Shivambu for EFF’s Poor KZN Performance

EFF leader Julius Malema has criticized his former deputy, Floyd Shivambu, for the party’s dismal showing in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Shivambu, a founding member of the EFF, parted ways with the party in August to join the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

Before his departure, Shivambu was tasked with boosting the EFF’s presence in KZN ahead of the 29 May election. Despite these efforts, the party managed only 2% of the provincial vote.

Malema has accused Shivambu of being disconnected from the realities on the ground during his tenure, further suggesting that Shivambu’s quiet exit may have been influenced by his decision to align with the MK Party.

“We’re being generous when we say his approach was out of touch. The truth may be worse—he might have knowingly contributed to the party’s decline in KZN,” Malema remarked.

Shivambu’s departure and the EFF’s struggles in KZN underscore the challenges the party faces in maintaining cohesion and expanding its influence.
