ANC to MK Party Defectors: Feel Free to Leave

Amid allegations that some senior African National Congress (ANC) members are secretly working for the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, the ANC has made it clear that those unhappy within the organization are free to depart.

The ANC’s leadership in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is currently briefing the National Working Committee (NWC) about the province’s poor showing in the 29 May elections. Many within the party attribute this electoral decline to various factors, including claims of members aligning with the MK Party.

Addressing the matter during the NWC meeting in Boksburg, ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri expressed the party’s stance:

“We are aware of allegations about individuals working for the MK Party. We are not in the business of second-guessing or policing our members. If anyone no longer finds joy in being part of the ANC, they are welcome to align themselves with other parties. We fought for democracy and will not undermine it.”

This reflects the ANC’s firm stance on loyalty and its commitment to upholding democratic principles within its ranks.
