The 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship has been postponed after the regional football governing body, the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), failed to secure a host nation for the annual tournament.
In a statement released by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) on Monday, COSAFA confirmed that the decision was made following the “current unavailability of a host nation” for this year’s edition of the competition.
The association added that efforts are underway to engage potential hosts, with the tournament now expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026.
“COSAFA is engaging potential hosts to ensure the successful delivery of the tournament, which is now expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026. Further details regarding the new dates and venue will be communicated in due course,” the statement read.
The statement continues: “ZIFA acknowledges and supports COSAFA’s commitment to maintaining the high standards of women’s football across the Southern African region and looks forward to the tournament’s rescheduled staging.”
