Hunters FC coach prays for PSL chance after historic promotion

Hunters FC coach Clifford Dzvairo said he is praying for the opportunity to continue leading FC Hunters in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League next season.

Dzvairo made history by becoming the youngest coach to guide a team into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after leading Marondera-based side to the 2025 Eastern Region Soccer League Division One title.

Hunters won the title with one game to spare after their 2-1 win over rivals Tenax recently.

“I want coach to manage in the PSL and to gain valuable experience at the elite level,” he said.

He added that the victory has had a positimpact in his career.

“Winning my first silverware as a coach feels so good. It’s a confidence booster to this young career that is just taking off. I really hope there’s so much more to come,” said Dzvairo.

The 28, year, old  described his coaching journey so far as tough, and demanding.

“I have been doubted, called names and worked without any rewards, but I persisted knowing that my tomorrow would be positive,” he said.

Dzvairo has formerly worked with  JM Busha 54 FC, St Paul’s Msami FC, and Destiny Stars FC all in the Eastern Region.

He went on to pay homage to the late Nelson Matongorere describing him as the biggest inspiration in his career.

“The late Nelson Matongorere has been the biggest inspiration of my career, he was like a father to me. I also take a lot from the careers of other coaches virtually like Coach Rulani Mokoena, Coach Carlo Ancelotti among others. It’s been great learning from them and all the people whom I share my everyday experiences with.”
