Kaitano Tembo stays coy on Warriors head coach links, reflects on national team stint

Kaitano Tembo has addressed reports linking him with the Warriors head coach position while reflecting on his recent stint with the national team.

Tembo was appointed as assistant coach ahead of the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Group C under former coach Michael Nees.

Following Nees’ dismissal as head coach last week, Tembo’s name has emerged among those linked to take over the national team.

However, when asked about the speculation, the South Africa-based coach declined to comment, telling Farpost.co.za: “No comment. For that, I can’t comment.”

Speaking about his recent involvement with the Warriors technical team, Tembo said:

“It’s always good to be in that environment. You always learn when you work at a different level as well.

So for me it’s important not to really cage myself if I may put it that way. You know, spread my wings and be able to do that. I also appreciate the club [Sekhukhune United] for giving me that opportunity to be able to do that.”

Meanwhile, ZIFA has invited suitable applicants to submit their applications for the Warriors head coach position. The new coach is expected to be appointed before the November international window.
