Tinotenda Kadewere’s chances of featuring at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals appear slim following confirmation of his expected return date.
The Zimbabwean forward tore the medial meniscus in his right knee during a training session last week and has since undergone surgery.
According to reports from Greece, an initial assessment by Aris Thessaloniki’s medical team indicates that Kadewere is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks. However, the exact recovery period will depend on how well he responds to treatment.
This timeline would see the 29-year-old returning to action barely two weeks before the AFCON finals kick off in Morocco, leaving his participation in serious doubt.
The Warriors will open their Group C campaign against Egypt on 22 December at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, with kick-off set for 7 PM CAT. They will then face Angola on Boxing Day (26 December) at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, before rounding off their group matches against neighbours South Africa on 29 December, also in Marrakech.
