Herentals FC welcomes PSL Disciplinary Committee judgment

Herentals FC has welcomed the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee ruling, which saw two of its officials being handed a 3-year ban from football following a fan assault incident in a match against CAPS United.

Other than the suspension of the two match officials, the PSL also ordered Herentals to play three league games in an empty stadium as part of the punishment.

Commenting on the matter, Herentals FC vowed not to appeal the ruling, although they felt there was room to do so.

“Herentals will not take that route for the good of football.

“When we look at the case and the circumstances around it, we see a possibility to have it overturned through appeal,” said club secretary general Fainos Madhumbu.

“But there are times when you just need to let football be the winner. This is one of those instances.

“We take full responsibility and accept the judgment as it is.

“We can’t drag the game just because we want to prove a point.

“We respect the outcome and let the game win.

“We are a team that has an educational background, and we want our kids to always follow the dictates of professionalism, even where they see they could raise their hands to say no,” added Madhumbu.

The PSL disciplinary ruling will be effective starting this weekend when Herentals host Yada at at Rufaro Stadium.
