Grow up – Kwekwe Queens FC tells Herentals Queens in a heated social media war

Kwekwe Queens has told Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) defending champions and current log leaders Herentals Queens FC to grow up following a social media war.

This comes after their Saturday clash which ended 3–0 in favor of the Herentals.

The issue began after Herentals shared a pre-match post aimed at their opponents who had earlier in the season been awarded a 3–0 walkover win after refusing to play at Tomlinson Depot, citing poor pitch conditions.

“Chinokanganwa idemo. Tough break, Queens! Kwekwe Queens United took our 3 points in a walkover win in the first leg of the season. Well, football is beautiful in that manner. Tomorrow we face them and viciously.”

Kwekwe Queens did not take that lightly and quickly responded to the post explaining how despite the circumstances, they both ended with three goals and three points in the bag

“ ‘Viciously,’ they said,  well, let’s look at it this way. First leg: Herentals 0 – Kwekwe Queens 3 (Kwekwe 3 points, 3 goals). Second leg: Kwekwe Queens 0 – Herentals 3 (Herentals 3 points, 3 goals).”

After sealing the 3–0 win on the pitch, Herentals posted again, celebrating their victory

“As Students, we believe we don’t celebrate getting certificates without sitting for exams. Pragmatism is what has made us dominate the ZWSL for years.”

Kwekwe Queens responded again, questioning Herentals’ claims of dominance and the conditions of the pitch they wanted them to play in.

“They say they have dominated ‘the ZWSL for years’ yet they are still crying over the earlier loss to us. Grow up! NB how did it feel playing on a turf much better than yours? Remember you wanted us to play in such a horrid stadium yet you say you have dominated the ZWSL for years — at least set the standard for all teams to follow.”

Meanwhile, Herentals are set to play Chapungu Queens this Wednesday in a rescheduled match.
