ZIFA explains Marshall Munetsi, Khama Billiat omissions from Warriors squad

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has clarified the absence of vice-captain Marshall Munetsi and winger Khama Billiat from the latest Warriors squad.

The two players were not included in the team set to face Algeria and Qatar during the November international break.

Zimbabwe will play Algeria on 13 November in Saudi Arabia before taking on Qatar a few days later.

In a statement, ZIFA explained that Munetsi was “excused at the request of his club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, due to a coaching transition.”

Wolves recently dismissed head coach Vítor Pereira, with Rob Edwards expected to take over. U21 coach James Collins is currently serving as interim manager of the English Premier League side.

Billiat, meanwhile, was left out of the squad “for personal reasons,” ZIFA added.

Elsewhere, Knowledge Musona has been ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury and will miss both fixtures. Tymon Machope of Scottland FC is also unavailable due to a calf injury.

Their places have been taken by defender Isheanesu Mauchi and midfielder Tivonge Rushesha.
