Dynamos coach Kelvin Kaindu says there is nothing to celebrate about the club’s last-day escape from relegation, insisting the team is far too big to rejoice over mere survival.
The Glamour Boys endured their worst league campaign in two decades, finishing the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season in 13th place. The Harare giants were in relegation danger right up to the final matchday, eventually securing safety thanks to a goalless draw against FC Platinum, combined with favourable results elsewhere.
Speaking after the match, Kaindu told reporters: “The objective was for us to survive, and we said it would be better to achieve that while also going on to win the Chibuku Super Cup.
“But we are not going to celebrate this because Dynamos is a big team. We can’t celebrate surviving relegation. That is why you saw no player celebrating after the game.”
Dynamos now shift focus to the Chibuku Super Cup final against Triangle United next weekend at Gibbo Stadium.
Kaindu added: “Our focus is now on the Chibuku Super Cup, and the team we are facing has a good coach. They also have the advantage because they are playing at home.”
