Popular South African actress Vele Manenje raves about her Skeem Saam co-star Sicelo Buthelezi’s talent. The former DiepCity actress Vele Manenje took to her Instagram to welcome Sicelo Buthelezi, who portrays Tobias.

Buthelezi portrayed the character of Teddy in Mzansi Magic’s canned telenovela, Gomora before joining the SABC1 soapie.
The former Gomora actor portrays the role of Manenje’s on-screen son, Tobias “Toby” Maswahla in Skeem Saam.
Manenje plays Evelyn Maswahla, the deputy principal at Turfloop Highschool in the popular soapie.
Manenje revealed to The Citizen in 2021 that Evelyn hails from Ga-Mothiba and she’s “strange” when people first meet her.
“Hailing from Ga-Mothiba, Evelyn is a former schoolteacher who is intelligent and well spoken. She is also a zealous reader with a fondness for poetry and meets a man with whom she forms a deep, romantic connection,” the statement read.
Buthelezi reveals to TshisaLIVE that joining Skeem Saam has been amazing and he’s enjoying it.
“Having joined the Skeem Saam family has been amazing. It’s a different environment but it feels like home. I’m enjoying it.”
Viewers met Tobias Maswahla on Tuesday, 2 April as a university student who got expelled and is forced to move to Turfloop.
SABC reports that his character turns over a new leaf, starts attending Turfloop University, and even gets a part-time job.
The actor won the award for Outstanding Newcomer at the fourth Royalty Soapie Awards for his role as Teddy in the Mzansi Magic telenovela.
