Plymouth Argyle engaging ZIFA over Brendan Galloway’s availability as Warriors’ AFCON camp begins

Plymouth Argyle are engaging ZIFA over the availability of Brendan Galloway as the Warriors begin their AFCON camp.

The English League One club is hoping to delay Galloway’s release by at least two days before he reports for camp, to allow him to feature in their match against Wycombe Wanderers on 9 December.

The official date for the defender, and all other players, to join up with the Warriors squad is Monday, 8 December, which is two weeks before they kick off their Group B campaign at the tournament.

Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley said, as quoted by the Plymouth Herald: “We expect Brendan to be called up. When that will be, we are in communication with the federation. The date that he’s expected to be there, we have a game the day after.

“I know clubs are in conversations about those things. We are hoping Brendan can play the Wycombe game and then join the squad as expected.”

Meanwhile, the Warriors camp started on Monday, with the locally based group the first to arrive.
