Marvelous Nakamba has arrived in the national team camp earlier than expected as preparations for the 2025 AFCON continue.
The Warriors captain was released by Luton Town just over two weeks before the tournament kicks off in Morocco on 21 December. His early arrival comes despite FIFA informing clubs that players can only be released for AFCON duty up to six days before the tournament begins.
Nakamba reported for duty together with Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai, who returns to camp after being sidelined on Tuesday due to injury.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Martin Mapisa has left the camp for undisclosed reasons.
In a statement, ZIFA said: “Warriors captain Marvelous Nakamba has arrived and joined camp, boosting the squad’s preparations. Emmanuel Jalai has returned after successfully recovering from injury and is now back with the team. Meanwhile, Martin Mapisa has been excused from camp with approval from the technical department.”
