South African musician and entrepreneur Lady Du has shared an emotional reflection on Instagram, offering fans a rare glimpse into the challenges behind her success.
In a heartfelt post, Lady Du emphasized that she doesn’t want her legacy defined by wealth, fame, or luxury.
“I don’t want to be known for how much money I have, how rich I look, or how famous I get,” she wrote.
“I wanna be known for the lives I changed, opportunities I took, risks I took… My dream is to employ 100 people. I’ve been saying this for years.”
She opened up about the personal struggles that come with pursuing her ambitions.
Lady Du admitted that she sometimes hits “zero” financially, funding projects out of her own pocket and pushing herself to the limits.
“Honestly this isn’t easy guys, don’t be fooled by our posts… sometimes I even push myself so hard to do something I know will finish my money but things all work out in the end,” she said.
The singer also touched on the pain that has shaped her journey.
She shared that her father’s death last year deeply affected her, contributing to periods of depression and pushing her to work relentlessly.
“I tried to escape the pain by focusing on my dreams. By the time I woke up, I had invested and finished all my projects,” she wrote, adding that she often cries alone at home, wishing her father were still there to support her.
Lady Du expressed gratitude to her fans, calling them her “CEOs” and thanking them for their guidance, support, and belief in her. “This isn’t just me but you too!” she added.
The post comes as Lady Du celebrates a new milestone: the launch of her wine brand, following years of running her beauty business.
