The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Tawanda Maswanhise among the promising talents at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Maswanhise featured for the Warriors and scored a stunning solo effort against South Africa.
He was also heavily involved in the national team’s second goal, which resulted in an own goal by Bafana Bafana defender Aubrey Modiba.
The Motherwell forward only started in one match, while making a cameo appearance in the game against Egypt. He was an unused substitute against Angola.
Despite starting just one game, Maswanhise’s strong performance in the final Group B match did not go unnoticed, and the 23-year-old has been named among the promising stars at AFCON.
This was confirmed by ZIFA in a post congratulating the forward, saying:
“Congratulations to Tawanda Maswanhise for being named among the Most Promising Talents at AFCON 2025.
“You are not just making history, you are inspiring it. Zimbabwe couldn’t be prouder.”
