Zimbabwe champions Scottland FC suffered a defeat in a pre-season friendly match against Nsingizini Hotspurs in Eswatini as they continue preparations for the upcoming season.

Scottland lost the match 2-0, with both goals coming in either half of the game in a competitive encounter against the Eswatini-based side.

Nsingizini opened the scoring in the 30th minute through Daniel Okunrinmenta.

The home side doubled the scoreline on the hour mark, with Yekisizwe Khumalo finding the net to seal the win for Nsingizini and hand Scottland a setback in their pre-season campaign.

The match marked the first time that coach Norman Mapeza guided Scottland from the touchline following his recent appointment.

Mapeza’s appointment as the new head coach was confirmed in December, replacing title-winning coach Tonderai Ndiraya. Scottland are expected to continue with their pre-season programme in the coming days as Mapeza looks to fine-tune the squad ahead of competitive action.
