Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side MWOS FC have held a “productive meeting” with former UEFA Champions League winners Steaua Bucharest.
The Punters confirmed the engagement, saying the meeting focused on forging ties in youth development, coaching education and long-term excellence with the Romanian giants.
The club announced on their website, saying: “Today, our Development Manager held a very productive and positive meeting with Steaua Bucharest representative George Ogăraru – former Ajax Amsterdam player and coach within the Ajax Academy system, including Ajax Jong.
“Steaua Bucharest, a former winner of the European Champions League and European Super Cup, is one of the biggest clubs in Eastern Europe, with a strong focus on youth development, community projects, and education. It is a club that sets high standards and creates an environment in which both young players and coaches work together to achieve performance at the highest level.”
MWOS added: “It was a true honour for our representative to visit Ghencea Stadium, a venue filled with history and unforgettable memories from European competitions, and to gain valuable insights into how Steaua Bucharest operates at both first-team and academy level.
“We can proudly say that MWOS FC has become the first African club to come into direct contact with two legendary trophies: Champions League and European Super Cup – a symbolic moment that inspires us to continue growing and building international partnerships.”
George Ogăraru said about the engagement: “As a former Ajax player and coach – a club renowned for its strong focus on youth development, it is a pleasure to see more and more clubs across the African continent placing real emphasis on young players and their growth.
“I believe MWOS is building a solid foundation for the future, and I would be more than happy to support their progress by sharing my knowledge and experience with their technical staff.”
