Major works at Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe are now complete, with the venue currently undergoing finishing touches.

The modern facility was built through significant private investment by businessman Shepherd Chahwanda.

According to reports, the official opening of Chahwanda Stadium is set for 28 February 2026. The ceremony is expected to be commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, marking the full operation of the stadium.

The stadium will serve as the home ground for Hardrock FC, a newly promoted PSL club owned by Chahwanda. The first competitive match at the venue is expected to take place on 6 February against Scottland FC in the opening round of the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Beyond local league matches, the venue is expected to help Zimbabwe reduce its reliance on foreign venues for CAF international fixtures, provided it secures the relevant CAF certifications.
