Watch: Passion Java Claims Mnangagwa Term Extension Will Bring Economic Prosperity…
Tinashe Sambiri– Controversial preacher Passion Java has sparked debate after publicly backing an extension of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term in office to 2030, claiming that Zimbabwe’s economic fortunes depend on it.
Speaking in an interview with Zigo TV on Wednesday, Java predicted that the US dollar and the Zimbabwean dollar (ZiG) could reach parity if Mnangagwa remained in power.
He said, “President Mnangagwa is proceeding with the work he started, and he is doing it effectively.
The focus should be on the progress he is making rather than on who might succeed him.”
Java added, “If we allow him to serve until 2030, the country’s economy can recover fully. I believe this is part of a larger plan for Zimbabwe’s future.”
The remarks have reignited controversy around the so-called 2030 Agenda, with critics arguing that it is being used to justify extending Mnangagwa’s tenure beyond the constitutional limit.
Observers note that despite claims of recovery, Zimbabwe continues to grapple with inflation, currency instability, and widespread economic hardship.
Supporters argue that continued leadership could bring stability necessary for implementing reforms, while opponents warn that prolonging presidential terms undermines democratic principles.
Passion Java, known for mixing political commentary with religious messaging, has once again positioned himself at the center of national debate, blending faith-based predictions with high-stakes political endorsements.
