Hurzeler Slams Arsenal’s Game Management After Brighton Defeat
Sports Correspondent – Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. head coach Fabian Hurzeler has criticised Arsenal F.C. following his side’s 1–0 loss at the Amex Stadium, accusing the league leaders of stretching the limits of the rules while protecting their advantage.
Speaking after the match, Hurzeler expressed clear frustration with the visitors’ tactics, arguing that their approach to slowing down the game went beyond normal match management.
“For me, that’s not football. When you take that long for every set piece, every goal kick, every throw-in, it destroys the rhythm of the game,” Hurzeler said.
The Brighton coach suggested that Arsenal’s strategy disrupted the flow of play and undermined the spirit in which the sport should be played.
“It felt like they were not really playing football anymore. It felt like they were making their own rules in certain moments,” he added.
While acknowledging Arsenal’s strong position at the top of the table, Hurzeler maintained that there should be boundaries when it comes to controlling the tempo of matches.
“I understand they want to win and manage the game, but there has to be a line. People come to see football,” he said.
