Willard Katsande Lands Top Rangers FC Job
By Sports Reporter – Former Willard Katsande has been appointed head coach of Rangers Football Club, a Northern Region Division One side based in Chinhoyi.
The club, previously known as Chinhoyi Rangers, confirmed Katsande’s appointment, with an official unveiling expected in the coming days.
The move marks Katsande’s first senior coaching job in Zimbabwe after obtaining his Confederation of African Football (CAF) coaching badge in the middle of last year.
Katsande completed the coaching course alongside another former Zimbabwe national football team captain, Tapuwa Kapini.
Although he has not yet coached a professional club, the former midfield enforcer has remained active in football development through his Kitoko Soccer School academy, where he mentors young players.
Katsande has also previously served in a technical role at South African fourth-division side Crystal Lake FC, gaining early coaching experience as he prepares for a full-time career on the bench.
The former Warriors captain enjoyed a successful playing career, most notably in South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs, where he became a fan favourite for his tough tackling and leadership in midfield. His appointment at Rangers FC is expected to bring experience and renewed ambition to the Chinhoyi-based side as it seeks promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
