PSL Raises Gate Charges for 2026 Season
Sports Correspondent – The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially increased gate charges for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season following a resolution made during an Emergency Committee meeting held on 5 March 2026.
According to a confirmation letter issued by the league, the revised minimum entry fees will now see supporters paying US$5 for the rest of the ground, US$15 for VIP or grandstand seating, and US$25 for VVIP access during PSL matches.
The league said the adjustments were necessary due to increasing operational expenses associated with hosting top-flight football matches across the country.
“This increase has been necessitated by the rising cost of matchday related services, statutory levies and tax obligations that clubs are required to meet in the staging of PSL matches,” the league said in a statement.
The PSL emphasised that the decision was taken after considering the financial challenges faced by clubs while also trying to ensure that football remains accessible to supporters.
“The PSL remains committed to striking a balance between ensuring that clubs are able to meet the operational costs associated with hosting matches while maintaining reasonable access for fans, who remain a vital part of the game,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the league also reminded supporters that the match between Herentals FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Saturday, 7 March 2026, will be played behind closed doors.
The decision follows a disciplinary sanction imposed on Herentals FC by the PSL Disciplinary Committee last year.
“As a reminder to our valued fans, the match between Herentals FC vs Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Saturday 7 March 2026 will be played behind closed doors as Herentals FC will be serving an ongoing disciplinary judgement issued by the PSL Disciplinary Committee last year,” the league said.
The new gate charges are expected to take effect immediately as the 2026 season gets underway, with clubs hoping the adjustments will help ease financial pressures associated with organising matchday events.
