Herentals, Chicken Inn match to be played behind closed doors due to PSL sanction

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed that the opening weekend fixture between Herentals FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Saturday will be played behind closed doors.

The decision follows a disciplinary judgment issued by the PSL Disciplinary Committee last year, which Herentals are currently serving.

The league said in a statement: “We would like to remind our valued fans that the match between Herentals FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Saturday 7 March 2026 will be played behind closed doors as Herentals FC will be serving an ongoing disciplinary judgement issued by the PSL Disciplinary Committee last year.”

Herentals were hit with a three-match sanction in late October towards the end of the 2025 season after the club pleaded guilty to breaching the PSL Rules and Regulations. One of their security officials assaulted a football fan in the VVIP area, while another assaulted a police officer following an arrest for violence after the match against CAPS United at Rufaro Stadium in September.

The club served part of the punishment last season, and it will be carried into this season.

Only accredited personnel will be permitted to attend the season opener against Chicken Inn.
