Mnangagwa Regime Insists Fuel Is Available As Doubts Grow Nationwide – Eduzim News

Tinashe Sambiri– Concerns over potential fuel shortages are continuing to mount across Zimbabwe, despite assurances from the government that the country has sufficient reserves to last for the next three months.

Speaking in the National Assembly last week, acting Energy Minister Zhemu Soda said a report presented to Parliament indicated that the country currently holds adequate fuel stocks. However, his remarks have done little to calm fears among lawmakers,

businesses and motorists.
Soda, who also serves as the Minister of Information, told legislators that the government had taken measures to secure fuel supplies and maintain stability in the market.

“We have taken steps to safeguard fuel supply,” he said, adding that “pricing would ultimately be influenced by market forces in the event of any disruptions to the supply chain.”

Despite these assurances, several lawmakers expressed concern that Zimbabwe could still face supply disruptions, especially as the ongoing Israel–Hamas War and broader tensions in the Middle East continue to place pressure on global oil markets.

Critics argue that the government’s confidence may be misplaced if international conditions worsen.
One lawmaker, speaking privately, dismissed the official claims, saying: “It’s all talk. Three months’ reserves are meaningless if the market spikes tomorrow.”

While authorities insist there is no immediate threat to fuel availability, many drivers and businesses remain unconvinced, fearing that shortages or sudden price increases could still hit the market.

For many Zimbabweans, the uncertainty surrounding fuel supply continues to fuel skepticism about official government assurances.
