MLS Issues Lifetime Bans to Derrick Jones and Yaw Yeboah Over Gambling Violations
Sports Correspondent – The Major League Soccer (MLS) has imposed lifetime bans on Derrick Jones and Ghanaian international Yaw Yeboah for breaching the league’s strict gambling rules.
Both players are believed to have placed bets on matches, including games involving their own teams, a serious violation of MLS policy.
A statement from the league confirmed the findings:
“After reviewing the results of the investigation, MLS concluded that the players engaged in extensive gambling on soccer, including on their own teams, during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
In one instance, both players bet on Jones to draw a yellow card during an October 19, 2024 match, which he received.”
The league emphasized that the bans are part of its ongoing effort to maintain the integrity of the sport.
