Relief As Residents Capture Notorious Crocodile
By A Correspondent – Residents of Mabikiri Village in Makhushane, Limpopo Province, South Africa, have captured a crocodile that had been terrorizing the community for months.
The reptile was finally apprehended on Monday morning after causing widespread fear among villagers living along the Selati River.
The same crocodile is believed to have attacked a fisherman during the January floods near Mabikiri Village, leaving him with serious hand injuries.
Determined to protect their community, residents tracked and hunted the crocodile themselves, eventually capturing it on Monday morning.
Following the capture, villagers are urging officials from the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism to remove the crocodile from the area.
One resident said, “The capture of the crocodile has brought immense relief to our village. People can now use the river without fear.”
The community’s successful efforts have been praised for taking proactive action to safeguard residents from further attacks by the dangerous predator.
