President Chamisa: We Will Remove Dodgy Taxes To Save Suffering People Of Zimbabwe
Tinashe Sambiri– Citizens leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has indicated that he has a plan to remove what he described as “dodgy taxes” that are burdening the long-suffering people of Zimbabwe.
In a strong statement issued on Friday, President Chamisa linked the high cost of fuel in the country to governance issues, arguing that the pricing structure goes beyond global oil costs.
“CORRUPTION MAKES ZIM FUEL EXPENSIVE…The fuel pricing structure in Zimbabwe is such a scandal.
Fuel prices in Zimbabwe are not just about oil, they are about: policy choices, government accountability and credibility, market structure and governance efficiency,” said President Chamisa.
He stressed that without addressing these structural issues, relief for citizens would remain out of reach.
“Until these are addressed together, prices will remain high. There is no reason to have such high taxes on Zimbabwe, the highest in the region,” he added.
President Chamisa promised that a Citizens-led government would take decisive steps to ease the burden on ordinary Zimbabweans by eliminating excessive taxation.
“We will remove all those ‘dodgy’ taxes in order to cushion citizens. Only an accountable and credible Citizens Government can deliver this!” he said.
The remarks come at a time when many Zimbabweans are grappling with high living costs, with fuel prices continuing to have a ripple effect across the economy.
