Warriors vs Highlanders: Preview, team news & more


The Warriors will take on Bulawayo giants Highlanders FC in a special exhibition match at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.

The encounter forms part of Highlanders’ centenary celebrations, marking 100 years since the club’s formation.

For the Warriors, the fixture provides a valuable opportunity to fine-tune preparations ahead of the upcoming four-nation invitational tournament set to be held in Francistown, Francistown later this week. Zimbabwe will face hosts Botswana national football team in one semi-final, while Zambia national football team take on Malawi national football team in the other tie.

Match organisers have kept gate charges affordable for supporters. Ordinary tickets are priced at $3, with Grand Stand access going for $5, while VIP tickets are pegged at $10. The VVIP section remains strictly by invitation. Schoolchildren in uniform will pay just US$1 to sit in the Mpilo Stand.

No broadcast details have been confirmed for the match so far.

The Warriors will be without several key players due to injury, including Knowledge Musona, Tawanda Maswanhise, Prince Dube, Sean Fusire and Thando Ngwenya.

In response, the technical team has drafted in reinforcements, with Washington Navaya (Hardrock FC), Jarrison Selemani (FC Platinum), Mongameli Tshuma (Highlanders FC), Junior Zindoga (TS Galaxy), and Godknows Murwira (Scottland FC) all joining the squad.
