Warriors coach Marian Marinica reveals major improvement in Warriors squad after Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament triumph

Warriors coach Marian Marinica has noted one major improvement in his charges after beating Zambia 1-0 in the final of the Mukuru Four-Nation Tournament on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe lifted the trophy thanks to a late own goal by Saisada Kafunti, who turned substitute Junior Zindoga’s cross into his own net.

The result marked Zimbabwe’s second clean sheet of the tournament after beating hosts Botswana on Saturday.

According to Marinica, he has seen a notable improvement in his defence, saying after the match on SuperSport TV:

“In the last games we have been conceding and in seven games we conceded ten goals, so we needed a bit of a change but we didn’t try to change everything.

“Fortunately, we scored again, and we could have scored more but we had very good opponents, Botswana and Zambia are both good teams.”

Prior to the competition triumph, the Warriors had only won once in five games.
