AKA and Tibz murder-accused brothers abandon bail

Two brothers accused in the high-profile murders of AKA and his close friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane have opted to abandon their bail application during their latest court appearance.

Siyabonga Ndimande and Malusi Ndimande appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 10 April 2026, where it was confirmed that they would no longer be seeking bail.

The decision marks a shift from their previous stance, where they had indicated plans to apply for release.

KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara confirmed the development, stating, “On their last appearance, they advised that they would want to make a bail application.

However, in court today, the accused abandoned their bail application.”

The brothers are among seven individuals accused of being involved in the fatal shooting that claimed the lives of AKA and Tibz in February 2023 outside a popular restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.

Following the incident, the Ndimande brothers reportedly fled to Eswatini, where they were later arrested and extradited to South Africa in 2025.

They now remain in custody alongside their co-accused as the case progresses through the courts. Authorities have confirmed that the trial is set to begin on 20 July 2026, with proceedings expected to continue in phases later in the year.

The state is anticipated to call dozens of witnesses as it builds its case.
