Zimbabwe international Andy Rinomhota has opened up on his frustrations after spending several months on the sidelines without playing, describing the period as one of the most difficult spells of his career.

The midfielder, who has been working his way back to full fitness, admitted that being unable to contribute on the pitch has taken a toll on him both mentally and professionally.

Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, the Warriors international said:

“It felt like an eternity waiting to be back on the pitch and contribute. It’s been very frustrating from a personal side to not be involved in that and to not be able to contribute on the pitch. I’ve been doing my work, trying to stay fit and ready for when I do get my chance.”

Andy Rinomhota finally got some minutes, making his second appearance of the season after coming on as a 66th-minute substitute in Reading’s 1-0 loss against Doncaster Rovers last weekend.

His return would be a timely boost for Zimbabwe, as they look to assemble a competitive team for the Unity Cup next month.
