Mnangagwa Declares Zim Is A Favourable Investment Destination

Tinashe Sambiri– President Emmerson Mnangagwa has once again claimed that Zimbabwe is an attractive destination for investors, despite ongoing concerns over the country’s economic challenges and business environment.

Speaking during the National Independence Day celebrations held on Saturday, 18 April at Maphisa Stadium, the President highlighted government efforts aimed at improving the ease of doing business through policy adjustments.

“With regards the ease of doing business and enhancing Zimbabwe as a favourable investment destination, the review of taxes, fees and levies, has been effected across critical sectors of the economy,” said President Mnangagwa.

However, the statement comes at a time when many businesses continue to complain about high operating costs, unstable policies, and a difficult economic climate that has seen limited investment inflows.

Critics argue that repeated assurances from the government have not translated into meaningful improvements on the ground, with investors still citing concerns over policy consistency, currency instability, and regulatory burdens.

While authorities maintain that reforms are being implemented to boost confidence, scepticism remains among economic players who say the environment still presents significant risks for both local and foreign investors.

The President’s remarks are likely to reignite debate over whether the claimed improvements in the business environment reflect actual conditions experienced by companies operating in Zimbabwe.
