Mapeza Blasts Own Players Over Half-Time Clash With MWOS …

Sports Correspondent – Scottland FC head coach Norman Mapeza has strongly criticised his players following a heated half-time confrontation with opponents from MWOS FC during their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 9 clash at Ngoni Stadium on Saturday.

Tempers flared immediately after the half-time whistle, with players from both sides engaging in pushing and jostling as they gathered at the centre of the pitch. The situation threatened to escalate before the match referee intervened, ordering all players to return to the dressing rooms.

Reacting after the match, Mapeza did not hold back, condemning the behaviour and warning that such incidents are damaging the image of the domestic game. “There are so many things happening in our football at this moment, and I have to be honest with you, we’re going backwards,” he said.

“I didn’t know what was happening on the pitch. There are some things happening that we don’t talk about, but I won’t allow such things to happen,” he added.

The veteran coach revealed he had already left for the dressing room when the confrontation unfolded but insisted that such conduct cannot be tolerated. “Unfortunately, I wasn’t there, I had already left for the dressing room. If we as coaches start believing in such, then we have a problem,” he said.

Despite the off-field drama, Scottland FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory, with Khama Billiat finding the net in the 53rd minute to seal the win.

The result lifts Scottland to third place on 17 points, while MWOS slip down to eighth position in the standings.
