Mourinho is currently in charge at Benfica, where he took over in July 2024. The Portuguese manager reportedly has a €3 million release clause in his contract, which could smooth a potential return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Pérez is said to value Mourinho’s experience and winning record, particularly in high-pressure environments. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España during his three-year spell.
