The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) said it will work closely with police to establish the cause of an accident that claimed the lives of 13 people in Limpopo.
The victims died on Tuesday when the taxi they were travelling in collided with a truck.
The accident occurred on the R521 between Polokwane and Dendron.
Department of Education officials have confirmed that ten of the deceased are teachers from the Capricorn North Education District.
SANTACO’s Ngwepe Lesiba has expressed his condolences on behalf of the council.
“We are extremely disappointed in how this accident happened. Our intention as leadership or taxi owners is not to bring people back home as corpses. Our responsibility is to transport people as we benefit from them safely.”
At the same time, the provincial Department of Transport has condemned the circulation of a video showing the accident scene with badly injured victims shortly after the crash.
