The initiative is expected to position <strong>Zambia as a regional innovation hub<\/strong> and attract global investment in emerging technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was formalized during the <strong>U.S.-Zambia Investment and Innovation Road Show 2025<\/strong>, held from <strong>September 5 to 18<\/strong> across <strong>California, Georgia, and Texas<\/strong>. The event marked a key milestone in Zambia\u2019s efforts to deepen <strong>economic diplomacy<\/strong> and showcase its growing potential as a destination for <strong>AI, technology, and sustainable investment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advancing Zambia\u2019s Innovation Agenda<\/h3>\n<p>According to a statement issued in Lusaka, the forthcoming <strong>Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)<\/strong> between ZDA, Lucid Circuit, and its partners will operationalize the AI zone, paving the way for <strong>infrastructure development, research collaboration, and private sector participation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa<\/strong> said the Roadshow had secured potential investments across multiple high-impact sectors, including <strong>critical minerals, agriculture, energy, and healthcare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe Roadshow secured potential investments in critical minerals, agriculture, energy, and healthcare, showcasing Zambia\u2019s vast economic potential and attractiveness to investors,\u201d Halwampa said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He added that the creation of the AI Special Economic Zone aligns with Zambia\u2019s broader goal to <strong>leverage digital transformation for industrial growth and job creation<\/strong>, reinforcing the country\u2019s <strong>Vision 2030<\/strong> ambitions to become a <strong>prosperous, middle-income economy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strengthening U.S.-Zambia Relations<\/h3>\n<p>The Roadshow also focused on <strong>expanding bilateral ties<\/strong> between Zambia and the <strong>United States<\/strong>, drawing interest from U.S. investors, universities, and innovation hubs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe delegation met with state officials, investors, and industry leaders, showcasing Zambia\u2019s investment opportunities and potential for collaboration,\u201d Halwampa noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He emphasized the <strong>strategic partnerships<\/strong> formed during the mission, which include collaborations with <strong>academic institutions such as Texas A&#038;M University<\/strong> (supporting agricultural site assessments) and the <strong>MD Anderson Cancer Center<\/strong> (advancing health partnerships).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the ZDA is working toward finalizing the <strong>Austin Elements MoU<\/strong> to support mineral and energy sector initiatives, reflecting Zambia\u2019s intent to <strong>integrate innovation across multiple value chains<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Harnessing Diaspora Capital<\/h3>\n<p>Halwampa also underscored the importance of engaging the <strong>Zambian diaspora<\/strong> as a key driver of foreign investment and innovation.
