It\u2019s a grand opportunity for Zimbabwe and a convergence of great minds in broadcasting,\u201d Chagonda said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He noted that the convention offers an invaluable platform for <strong>knowledge exchange, innovation, and strategic partnerships<\/strong> among African media institutions.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI in Broadcasting: Opportunities and Risks<\/h3>\n<p>The first day featured a series of <strong>high-level policy discussions<\/strong> and <strong>interactive sessions<\/strong> focused on the transformative impact of AI on content creation, revenue generation, and media ethics.<\/p>\n<p>A panel titled <strong>\u201cThe AI Bottom Line: Navigating Opportunities, Threats, and New Revenue Models,\u201d<\/strong> moderated by <strong>Benjamin Pius<\/strong>, CEO of Broadcast Media Africa, brought together leading voices including <strong>Tabitha Mutemi<\/strong> (Association of Professional Broadcasters, Kenya) and <strong>Rufaro Zaranyika<\/strong> (Transmedia Corporation, Zimbabwe).<\/p>\n<p>The discussion explored <strong>AI-driven audience analytics<\/strong>, <strong>automated production<\/strong>, and <strong>emerging digital monetization models<\/strong> for broadcasters across the continent.<\/p>\n<p>Another key session, <strong>\u201cTrust in the Machine: Navigating the Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Maze of AI in Broadcasting,\u201d<\/strong> tackled the complex issues surrounding <strong>responsible AI deployment<\/strong> in media.<\/p>\n<p>Moderated by <strong>Noto Modungwa<\/strong> of Sentech, the panel featured <strong>Matthias Chakanyuka<\/strong> (Broadcasting Authority Zimbabwe) and <strong>Mabatho Lithebe<\/strong> (Lesotho National Broadcasting Services), who examined how to uphold <strong>editorial integrity and public trust<\/strong> in an era of algorithmic content generation.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategy, Content, and Connectivity<\/h3>\n<p>The afternoon sessions shifted toward <strong>future-proofing Africa\u2019s broadcasting ecosystem<\/strong>.<br \/><strong>Itumeleng Segaloe<\/strong>, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at <strong>Sentech<\/strong>, presented a keynote titled <strong>\u201cStrategising With AI the Right Way: Content and Connectivity for Africa Media.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A subsequent panel, <strong>\u201cThe New Content Strategy: Originality, New Audiences, and Innovative Formats?\u201d<\/strong>, featured <strong>Berard Dupres<\/strong> (Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation) and <strong>Davies Kabuswe<\/strong> (Sun Broadcasting Holdings).
