The initiative, led by the <strong>Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA)<\/strong> in partnership with <strong>Microsoft<\/strong>, aims to build a future-ready workforce and strengthen Kenya\u2019s position as a continental AI hub.<\/p>\n<p>The launch brought together senior government officials, global tech partners, academia, and development institutions, underscoring growing momentum around AI as a driver of jobs, productivity, and competitiveness.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building a coordinated AI ecosystem<\/h3>\n<p>Despite being ranked among Africa\u2019s top AI-ready countries, Kenya\u2019s efforts have been fragmented across institutions and sectors. KAISA will unify and scale these efforts nationwide by:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Aligning training with industry and government needs<\/li>\n<li>Expanding access to AI learning for youth, women, and underserved communities<\/li>\n<li>Supporting ethical and responsible AI adoption<\/li>\n<li>Creating a national AI repository and innovation hub<\/li>\n<li>Developing research and policy frameworks to guide deployment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cKAISA marks a defining moment in Kenya\u2019s journey to build a future-ready workforce,\u201d said <strong>Dr. Ehud Gachugu<\/strong>, Deputy CEO at KEPSA. \u201cAfrica\u2019s youthful population remains our greatest advantage. Through coordinated efforts, we will connect innovation with opportunity and scale models that empower communities in the digital economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Microsoft deepens AI talent investment<\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft will support curriculum development, innovation incubation, and research acceleration, building on earlier partnerships that have already trained thousands of young Kenyans and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cTechnology alone cannot drive progress,\u201d noted <strong>Phyllis Migwi<\/strong>, Microsoft Country GM. \u201cSkills and talent will determine how far Kenya goes in the AI era. We must become not just adopters but creators and innovators.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">People-first, ethical AI<\/h3>\n<p>Kenya\u2019s Special Envoy on Technology <strong>Amb. Philip Thigo<\/strong> stressed that AI must center people and sustainability:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe true test of innovation is whether technology sustains the planet and empowers people.
