{"id":42086,"date":"2025-11-17T19:46:50","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T19:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eduzim.co.zw\/news\/?p=42086"},"modified":"2025-11-17T19:46:50","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T19:46:50","slug":"1083263-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eduzim.co.zw\/news\/2025\/11\/17\/1083263-2\/","title":{"rendered":"State presents electronic &#8216;pings&#8217; as evidence in Modack-Killian trial &#8211; SABC News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <script data-jetpack-boost=\"ignore\" async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1669381584671856\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- Africa tv video display -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1669381584671856\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"3579572842\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script data-jetpack-boost=\"ignore\">\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The state presented electronic device location pins, or pings, to the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town, in the trial of underworld figure Nafiz Modack and his co-accused Zane Killian.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecution is slowly moving to prove a case that the two accused had a relationship that allegedly led to the murder of top cop and anti-gang unit member, Charl Kinnear.<\/p>\n<p>During cross-examination, the State told the court that Killian had several code names for Modack.<\/p>\n<p>Modack and 14 co-accused face over a hundred charges, including murder, attempted murder, running a criminal enterprise and money laundering.<\/p>\n<p>State Prosecutor Greg Wolmarans made use of cell phone screenshots to show code names allegedly used by Zane Killian, in reference to Nafiz Modack.<\/p>\n<p>Among the charges Modack faces is the attempted murder of criminal defence attorney William Booth.<\/p>\n<p>Wolmarans displayed several screenshots, allegedly relating to pings of different people, including that of Booth on the day of his attempted murder.<\/p>\n<p>The screenshots are used by the State to establish that Killian allegedly acted on Modack\u2019s instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the pings has a reference attached to it, indicating on whose behalf it was done.<\/p>\n<p>Accused Nafiz Modack says,\u00a0\u201cMy lord, I have so much references already that I\u2019m myself confused, my lord. At least 8 or 7 references, my lord. Different references, my lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>State prosecutor Advocate Greg Wolmarans adds,\u00a0\u201cIs it hard to keep track? You want me to go through it again? Yes, please. For Mr. Booth and his wife\u2026ja \u2026.The relevant references are bow boss boss, Nafiz, 3, Mo, and boss. For Mr. Valli, the references are Naf, Naf, and bow boss boss.
