Police have confirmed that a suspect approached him shortly after midday, opened fire and fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made, and the motive for the killing remains unclear as investigations continue.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the tragedy are emerging reports that DJ Warras had obtained multiple protection orders prior to his death. According to sources, he had secured five protection orders against occupants of the Zambezi Building in Johannesburg\u2019s CBD, with one reportedly granted just last week.<\/p>\n<p>These revelations have raised further questions as police work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder.<\/p>\n<p>In their statement, the family described Warrick as far more than a public figure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe senseless nature of his passing has left his family devastated, broken, and struggling to imagine a world without him,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>Affectionately known as DJ Warras and also as \u201cThe Shady Lurker,\u201d he was remembered as a devoted son, a loving and proud father, and a cherished brother and uncle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWarrick was the heart and anchor of his family,\u201d the statement read. \u201cHe brought light, laughter, and strength into every space he occupied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The family also highlighted his impact beyond his home, noting that his kindness and influence reached friends, colleagues and the wider South African entertainment community, where he was deeply loved and respected as a media personality, activist and businessman.<\/p>\n<p>DJ Warras is survived by his three young children, his mother and his siblings.
