This season, Chiefs are in the hunt for the league title and are only two points behind rivals Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.<\/p>\n<p>Malatsi, who played for Amakhosi in the early 2000s, feels the Buccaneers and Masandawana are the real contenders.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chiefs-won-t-win-the-betway-premiership-says-malatsi\">Chiefs won\u2019t win the Betway Premiership, says Malatsi<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cTo be honest, I don\u2019t see them competing with Sundowns and Pirates. Sundowns have quality and depth; even Pirates this season have signed well. You saw they had nine players at Bafana Bafana, which showed they signed quality,\u201d Malatsi told\u00a0Soccer Laduma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor this season, with due respect, I don\u2019t see Chiefs competing [for the title]. Chiefs still need to buy quality; not that I judge their players, but there are some players you can see are not the material for Chiefs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malatsi said Chiefs lacked the players or quality to fight for the Betway Premiership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is material for Chiefs. I can\u2019t mention names, but some players don\u2019t even deserve [to play for Chiefs]. Chiefs are still far from Sundowns and Pirates. They have to fix their structure; there is a lot of work they still need to do,\u201d Malatsi added.<\/p>\n<p>Another former Amakhosi star, Junior Khanye, dismissed Chiefs\u2019 title charge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMina, I can\u2019t count Kaizer Chiefs as title contenders. There\u2019s still a lot of work to be done. I always say the way you win determines your future,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still believe Sundowns will win the league because of their experience, not because they have the best team this season.
