However, the Afrikaner family cited safety fears, stating they had been threatened with rape and murder on their farm before fleeing to Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t        <iframe title=\"bj_embed\" class=\"dx-embed\" id=\"dxIframe-0\" style=\"width: 100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to their Facebook profiles, the family hails from Springs in Johannesburg. They have been living in Ireland for almost five years.<\/p>\n<p>Madelein has regularly shared posts about crime and corruption in South Africa. She also reshared news of the US\u2019s threats to impose sanctions based on claims of \u201cracial discrimination\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Madelein told the publication that the family were considering seeking asylum in another country, possibly in the US.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cIf Ireland doesn\u2019t want me, that\u2019s fine. But please remove the deportation order so I can claim asylum somewhere else\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happens-when-asylum-is-denied\">WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ASYLUM IS DENIED?<\/h3>\n<p>If Irish authorities deny an application \u2013 in this case, the International Protection Office (IPO) \u2013 an appeal can be filed.<\/p>\n<p>During this time, individuals can remain in the country. However, they will have to present a case via a formal application or oral hearing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If an appeal is denied, the Department of Justice will review the case, considering factors such as an individual\u2019s criminal and medical records, how long they have lived in the country, and whether they have family ties.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If the department rejects the application, a deportation order is issued.
