We are introducing subsidies and standardising set-top boxes and dishes,\u201d said Mignot.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"modern-quote pull alignright\">We do provide a premium experience, and there is an aspirational element to it, but it has to be accessible<br \/>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"p4\">The cost of these subsidies is included in the \u20ac100-million \u201cboost plan\u201d Canal+ announced on Wednesday to arrest the decline in DStv\u2019s subscriber base, which shrank from 14.9 million to 14.4 million in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">Mignot\u2019s presentation showed that the approximate installation cost in Canal+ countries is about \u20ac13, compared to \u20ac38 in MultiChoice territories \u2014 almost three times as much. Mignot said lowering the entry price is \u201cabsolutely key\u201d to winning new subscribers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cWe do provide a premium experience, and there is an aspirational element to it, but it has to be accessible,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Shift the focus\u2019<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p4\">But the pricing gap is only part of the problem. Mignot said MultiChoice also has far fewer points of sale per electrified household than Canal+ does in its own markets \u2014 roughly a third of the density. Canal+ plans to address this by recruiting more than a thousand salespeople across MultiChoice\u2019s markets and expanding its distribution footprint.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">These moves are part of a broader strategy to bring best practices from Canal+\u2019s markets in Europe, Francophone Africa and Asia into MultiChoice\u2019s operations in Anglophone Africa. Mignot said Canal+ has identified 270 best practices from across its global operations and is implementing them across 30 MultiChoice business units and countries under what it calls its \u201cmastermind framework\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right;\">Read: Canal+ shares crash on weak MultiChoice outlook<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u201cWe are going to shift the focus of our business much more towards sales.
