Wilderness<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Tinashe Sambiri\u2013 Former ZANU-PF Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa has been appointed to the ruling party\u2019s Elders\u2019 Council, marking his return to a senior advisory structure within the party after years in the political doldrums.<\/p>\n<p>Mutasa was expelled from ZANU-PF in 2015 for allegedly undermining the party leadership under the late former president Robert Mugabe.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the development at a press conference held at the party\u2019s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, 11 March, ZANU-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Christopher Mutsvangwa said Mutasa\u2019s appointment to the Elders\u2019 Council was in recognition of his long political career and his contributions during and after the liberation struggle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Mnangagwa has opened the door to accommodate all comrades who may have gone in another direction during the armed struggle, even after independence,\u201d said Mutsvangwa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe might have argued here and there, but that does not separate us.\u201d<br \/>He added that Mutasa, a long-time figure in Zimbabwe\u2019s liberation politics, had now been brought back into the party\u2019s advisory structure.<br \/>\u201cOne of the stewards of the Zimbabwe revolution who has been on the margins has been brought back to the party to become a member of the ZANU PF Elders\u2019 Council,\u201d said Mutsvangwa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am here to inform you that former ZANU PF Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa, has joined the Elders\u2019 Council.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before Zimbabwe gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1980, Mutasa served as Chairman of the Cold Comfort Farm Society, a non-racial cooperative community.<br \/>Following independence, he held several senior political positions, including serving as Zimbabwe\u2019s first Speaker of Parliament from 1980 to 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Mutasa also served as the Member of Parliament for Makoni North, a member of the ZANU-PF Politburo and the party\u2019s Secretary for Administration.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<span id=\"wordads-inline-marker\" style=\"display:
