Jaison Muvevi Trial Begins<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
By A Correspondent \u2013 Proceedings in the murder case involving Jaison Muvevi are scheduled to start this Monday at the High Court of Zimbabwe in Harare. <\/p>\n
The matter has been placed on the court\u2019s continuous roll and is expected to run throughout the week until Friday.
The case dates back to 2023 and drew widespread public interest because of the brutality of the alleged attacks. <\/p>\n
Muvevi, a resident of Ruzane Village in Hwedza District, faces allegations of shooting and killing four people while also attempting to murder four others during a string of violent incidents reported in the district in January of that year.<\/p>\n
Among those who reportedly died in the attacks are Nyarai Round, Maxwell Hove, a police inspector stationed at the Zimbabwe Republic Police Hwedza Police Station, Chrispen Kanerusine, who was described as a leader at an apostolic shrine, and bartender Munashe Majani.<\/p>\n
Court papers state that the violence allegedly began on January 13, 2023. It is claimed that Muvevi drove to a shrine belonging to the Johanne Masowe eChishanu Apostolic Church, where his mother, Shupikai Muvevi, had joined other worshippers for a gathering.<\/p>\n
Following the incidents, Muvevi reportedly fled the country and was later apprehended in Mozambique before being returned to Zimbabwe to stand trial. <\/p>\n
The High Court is now set to hear the evidence and determine the outcome of the case.<\/p>\n
